Participatory Processes for Mobility and Stakeholder EngagementProcesses
Integrated Participation Paths in Planning
Participatory processes in mobility allow citizens, organizations, and stakeholders to contribute in a structured way to transportation decisions, improving the quality, consensus, and sustainability of choices. We support planning processes with customized participation paths, designed to respond to the specific characteristics of territories and their communities. The design of participatory activities always starts with a careful reading of the context, local sensitivities, and social dynamics, to define clear objectives, target audiences, and appropriate tools. This way, participation is not an accessory element but a structural component of the planning process, capable of enriching technical analyses with the perspectives of those who experience urban space daily.
Coordination between Stakeholders and Technical Working Group
Our approach is based on constant coordination between various stakeholders and the technical working group. We alternate between information and dissemination moments, such as public events, thematic meetings, and workshops, and phases of active listening and co-design. This allows us to gather contributions, critical issues, proposals, and priorities directly from the territory, fostering structured dialogue between administrations, citizens, associations, businesses, and other interested parties.
The goal is to ensure that planning choices are not perceived as top-down decisions but as the outcome of continuous and transparent dialogue. The contributions that emerge during meetings are systematized and integrated into the Plans, with particular attention to compliance with regulatory frameworks, sustainability objectives, and available resources.
Planning as an Opportunity for Learning and Community Building
We conceive planning tools not only as technical devices necessary to improve people’s quality of life but also as opportunities for shared learning and community building. Each participatory process is designed to increase awareness of mobility issues, public space use, and urban transformations, providing clear and accessible data, scenarios, and analytical tools.
We work to build a common vocabulary and shared working method to reduce the gap between technical and everyday language. This allows different actors to participate more consciously, correctly interpret information, and contribute concrete proposals, fostering the development of plans and projects that are as shared and tailored to the territory as possible.
Communication Plans and Tools for Participatory Democracy
To make this approach effective, we design Communication and Participation Plans that integrate specific techniques and tools for stakeholder engagement and participatory democracy. We define channels, formats, and timing of activities, evaluating the use of digital and in-person tools, questionnaires, online platforms, thematic tables, neighborhood workshops, and public feedback sessions.
Each plan is built with the aim of reaching different audiences, facilitating the emergence of plural viewpoints, and ensuring transparency throughout the entire process. In this way, participatory processes become an integral part of mobility governance and urban transformations, contributing to generate more solid, legitimate decisions oriented toward collective well-being.
