PFTE of the Blue Line of the Bologna tramway
Project overview
We developed the Technical and Economic Feasibility Project for the Blue Line of the Bologna tramway. The route covers the south-western sector, along the Renato Dall’Ara Stadium – Casalecchio di Reno route. The work involved clear investigation methods and the identification of the main critical points. In addition, transport constraints were analysed and the necessary elements for the development of the project were gathered.
Preliminary analyses and design alternatives
The assignment included the structure of the Feasibility Document for Design Alternatives. For this reason, alternative scenarios were studied and feasibility assessments were carried out using multi-criteria analysis. In addition, the activity included assessing the line’s service levels, estimating journey times and analysing its integration capacity with the existing network.
Transport assessments and expected benefits
We estimated the reduction in private traffic and analysed the benefits linked to sustainability. Furthermore, complementary connection solutions, such as urban cable car systems, were also considered. Consequently, the assessments provided a clear picture of the project’s impacts and possible developments.
Communication and information management
Alongside the technical analyses, we also worked on the communication plan. Therefore, information strategies, tools for citizen engagement and visual concepts dedicated to dissemination have been developed. Furthermore, the entire process was supported by advanced information management systems based on BIM models and ACDat data sharing platforms. This approach ensured transparency, coordination and efficiency throughout the entire project.
