DOCFAP and PFTE – Tram Roma
Classification of interventions
As part of the Temporary Designers’ Consortium, we participated in the drafting of the Technical-Economic Feasibility Projects for two strategic lines of the Rome Capital tram system. The works concern Lot 4, Tiburtina Station – Ponte Mammolo, and Lot 5, Tangenziale Sud Marconi – Parco Appia Antica – Subaugusta. Furthermore, both lots are part of the rapid mass transport enhancement plan, with the aim of increasing accessibility, reducing congestion and promoting sustainable mobility.
Transport analysis and modelling
We carried out the transport study for the two routes. Activities include reconstructing mobility demand, defining traffic and passenger flows, and assessing the impact generated by the new lines. In addition, the work involved calibrating forecasting models and integrating them with local public transport services. The analyses also considered interactions with the existing road network, ensuring consistency with the PUMS objectives.
Project development and evaluation of alternatives
The work includes preparing the Feasibility Document for the Design Alternatives and drafting the PFTE for both lots. Summary performance indicators, operating scenarios and comparative simulations have been developed. Thanks to these activities, it was possible to identify the most suitable and sustainable design solutions, in accordance with the technical standards required by the MIT.
Institutional support and methodological quality
Thanks to a data-driven approach, we have guaranteed the technical quality of the projects. The analyses provide solid tools to support the Services Conference and the institutional approval phases. Furthermore, specialist input reinforces the methodological robustness of the entire project, laying the foundations for tramway infrastructure capable of improving the efficiency of the public transport system and enhancing urban and metropolitan connections.
