Analisi data-driven e Decision Support System per EAV
Project objectives and approach
Together with Vodafone Analytics and Motion Analytica, we have developed a multimodal Decision Support System model for Ente Autonomo Volturno. The objective was to enhance the analysis and planning capabilities of rail and road services. Furthermore, the project was based on a data-driven approach that integrates innovative and traditional sources, thus creating a predictive tool capable of simulating operating scenarios.
Demand analysis and data integration
The activities involved the development of Origin/Destination matrices derived from telephone data, Floating Car Data, ticketing systems and open data. Interactive dashboards have also been created to consult and analyse the data. Furthermore, the validation of the matrices was conducted over different seasonal periods, such as summer and autumn, in order to ensure a more accurate representation of demand.
Simulation model and operational results
This process made it possible to accurately reconstruct passenger flows along EAV lines. A multimodal simulation model was designed and calibrated to estimate passengers boarding and alighting at each station, line loads and modal split between public and private transport. Furthermore, the model was structured around five time slots representing the day, in order to reproduce the generation, distribution and allocation of journeys in a comprehensive manner.
Support tools and planning scenarios
The entire system was accompanied by thematic maps, performance indicators and web dashboards, which were useful for interpreting the results. Simple and complex transport scenarios have been developed, ranging from business as usual until 2030 to the review of individual lines. In addition, assessments of the tariff system and operational impacts have been included.
Training and skills transfer
The activities concluded with a 100-hour specialist training programme dedicated to transport models. The programme ensured that the client gained effective transfer of skills and full operational autonomy in using the developed system.
