Urban Design and Mobility

Urban

In urban design, we always start with a careful reading of the existing context: functions, flows of people and vehicles, quality of public spaces, critical safety and accessibility issues. We work on already consolidated urban fabrics to regenerate squares, streets, nodes and paths, giving space back to pedestrians, cyclists and public transport, without distorting the identity of places but accompanying their evolution over time.

Integrated and Conscious Urban Design

We provide urban design solutions that stem from an in-depth reading of the existing context. Each intervention is set up based on the functional needs of the places, safety requirements, and public space regeneration objectives. We work on already consolidated urban fabrics, analyzing their daily use dynamics, flows of people and vehicles, relationships between functions and services, to propose coherent and feasible spatial arrangements. The goal is to build projects capable of improving the quality of urban life without distorting the identity of places, but accompanying their evolution over time.

Integration with the Context and Regeneration of Public Space

Each proposal is designed to dialogue with pre-existing elements, enhance quality elements and correct evident criticalities, whether physical, functional or perceptual. We operate from the perspective of urban regeneration, intervening on underutilized spaces, critical nodes of the road network, marginal areas or transition areas between different urban functions. Through targeted choices of furniture, paving, greenery, paths and safety devices, we promote the creation of recognizable, readable and easily accessible places for the people who live there every day.

Universal Accessibility and Safety for All Users

We pay particular attention to accessibility and safety for all user classes, with a specific focus on the most vulnerable people. The projects include overcoming architectural barriers according to dedicated planning tools, such as PEBAs, and the reorganization of paths to ensure continuity, comfort and orientation. Proper lighting of spaces, visibility of crossings, clarity of signage and quality of public transport stops are central elements. The goal is to build safer, more readable and inclusive urban spaces, where every person can move independently and in adequate protection conditions.

Sustainable Mobility and Modal Rebalancing

We rethink urban space by promoting active and sustainable modes of transport. We prioritize pedestrian and cycling mobility and public transport, reorganizing the road section to redistribute space in favor of more vulnerable users. Through traffic calming interventions, introduction of 30 km/h Zones, creation of environmental islands and targeted pedestrianization, we aim to reduce speed and conflicts between vehicular flows and people. These actions contribute to creating more livable neighborhoods, with less pollution and higher quality public space. The expected result is a more sustainable, attractive and inclusive urban territory, capable of supporting a change in mobility habits in line with the climate and social objectives of local administrations.
